Game Day: Knicks vs. Magic, 3/18/21

The Knicks return home after a tough road back-to-back against the top two teams in the East led to heartbreak. Can they get back on track against the Magic, with both teams hurting?

Tonight, the Lakeland Magic travel to New York to face the Westchester Knicks.

Wait, that’s not right. But it kinda feels that way given the point guard situation on both sides tonight!

Some heavy OAKAAK energy out there tonight! On the Knicks’ side, this has to mean that we’re either going to see some Point RJ/Point Burks, or that Jared Harper is going to get some burn now that he’s back from the G League bubble.

On the other side, man, it might just be Chasson Randle. Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon are both questionable as well, two other dudes that can handle some ball handling for the Magic. Terrence Ross is also questionable. That leaves, like… James Ennis? Dwayne Bacon?

Luckily the Knicks are more or less perfectly healthy at every other position but center, which could mean we see a real slop-fest of a game where Julius Randle and Nic Vucevic get into a duel. But without an RJ Barrett on the Magic, they could be at a disadvantage, and should ultimately lose.

On the other hand, it’s dangerous to ever get too comfortable in assuming the Knicks are going to win, even this season. I feel like almost every time that I’ve convinced myself the Knicks are coming into an extremely winnable game, they lose. So let’s just say it’s a toss-up.

Actually, wait, it looks like Karim Mane, Orlando’s other two-way point guard, is shooting 50% from three for the year (ignore the extremely large and relevant sample size). We’re doomed! (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Nah but seriously, get ready for a 88-78 slop-fest of a game. Hopefully the Knicks are the team that cracks 80.
