Game Day: Knicks vs. Wizards, 3/25/21

The Knicks face the Wizards at home for the second time in two days. But will the team look the same as they did on Tuesday, with today being the trade deadline? Guess we’ll see!

It’s honestly kinda cruel that the NBA lets there be games on trade deadline day.

One, fans can’t bring themselves to give a shit about the dudes that get left on their team when the dust settles; everyone’s hype about the shiny, new person coming in. And secondly, if some team makes a giant trade, you’re basically forcing them to play with like six players for a night. I guess that not every team makes a big trade, so ultimately it’s not that huge of a deal. Certainly, the Knicks rarely do.

But could that change this year? We already discussed earlier today that the Knicks have been linked to a lot of different players, and that’s only considering if they seek to upgrade the roster in a major way. There hasn’t even been that much chatter about how the Knicks could potentially use their $15 million in cap space to grease the wheels of a larger trade and bring in a less-heralded player.

All of that is to say, tonight’s game is one of those that’s more or less impossible to preview, because it’s a complete unknown. For all we know, the Wizards could get a godfather offer for Bradley Beal and be without him tonight, despite their (and his) reluctance to move him. The Knicks could trade Alec Burks and be without one of their top scorers of late. The possibilities are endless.

For now, we’ll just assume things will stay the same. And if they do, what more is there to really talk about? Hopefully the Knicks crush these fools again, though the Wizards have shown the ability to play teams tough sometimes. Guess we’ll see tonight!

Game is at 7:30 on MSG. Feel free to comment along here or on Twitter. Hopefully we’ll see a bunch of familiar faces out there still!
