Introducing The Strickland’s Top 75 Knicks of All Time
There have been many Knicks that have suited up prior to this year’s NBA 75th anniversary season. Who are the best of the best? We’re looking to figure it out!
The NBA is celebrating its 75th anniversary in what is officially its 73rd year of existence. When you get up there in age, no one begrudges you taking liberties with the numbers. In that spirit, we here at The Strickland are proud to announce we’ll be honoring the New York Knicks’ 76th season the rest of this season by gradually unveiling our top 75 Knicks of all time.
The Association did something earlier this season, announcing their 75th Anniversary team. It’s an interesting list, to be sure, and an admirable effort – nearly 5,000 men have suited up in at least one NBA game (with Omicron, it sometimes seems like that many players suited up in the past month). But arguing about whether Robert Parish deserves to be there ahead of Klay Thompson doesn’t really do much for me. If you’re anything like me, you’d honestly rather debate the merits of Al Harrington versus Hubert Davis.
Which brings us to the top 75 Knicks. There’ve been 519 Knicks all time, so this list consists of the top 14% ever. Over the rest of the season The Strickland will reveal the 75 in a series of reveals: 75-66, 65-56, 55-46, 45-36, 35-26, 25-16, 15-6 and lastly the final five. In addition, we’ll have longer-form pieces on a number of the players selected. The rankings are according to votes from a few of our staff writers and legally binding.
The rest of this piece (including our top 36 Knicks of all time, out of final order) can be found exclusively on our Patreon for patrons of the Spinning and Winning level and higher. We hope to see you there!
